I took the plunge

Well I finally took the plunge. I had lasik surgury on my eyes. My right eye is doing pretty well but my left eye is not clear yet. The doctor says that in farsightedness it takes some time for the surgery to work. I hope she is right. Well we will see. Pun intended.

Baby blessing

Hey so I talked it over with Kim and we are going to be doing the baby blessings the first Sunday in May I think that it is May 4th. Both Aaron and Emily are going to be blessed in Pomerene. That way people only have to make one trip. The ward meets at 1:00pm in case you don't know. I hope to see you all there. We wont be coming up until Saturday because Luke's brother is graduating that morning from University of Phoenix. Thanks for all the love and support. You guys are the best.

A Spirtual Day

It is hard for those who are not members of the church to understand how a funeral can be a joyful celebration. We know we will see Grandpa again. In a way it is like sending a missionary away. We are happy that the missionary is worthy 0f the call, but we are sad to see him or her go. We were sad to see Grandpa go, but we knew his life was in order and that he had passed the test and will gain his exaltation. The only difference between his call and that of an earthly missionary is that we the time of reunion is uncertain. For some of us it may by only a short time, for others it may be many years. But we will be with him again. Of this I testify. I love you all and enjoyed our time together this weekend. Looking forward to seeing you in July.

Grandpa Barney

Memories of Grandpa Barney are many, but here are a few that stand out. I remember him giving money to someone who was in need even though he wasn’t a rich man himself. I remember him giving watermelons away when he could make more by selling them. I remember learning to pick watermelons on summer mornings and him splitting one open for us every now and then to eat the heart out of. I remember learning how to start an irrigation pipe and being so proud of myself when I could final get one to work. I remember horseback rides and milking cows. I remember him letting us drive his truck on the farm. I remember his pet tarantulas and having one thrown on me once. I remember his silly camp songs like “Catalina Magdalena,” “Boom, Boom Ain’t it Great to Be Crazy,” and “Pile of Tin.” Most of all I remember the man he was. The love he always shared, and the joy and humor he brought to life even when there was work to be done. He was a great man who was loved and will truly be missed.

Memory of grandpa

I think that sometimes I might have took for granted the fact that I had grandparents so close to me. You know not everyone could walk less than a mile to visit there grandparents. And now that Grandpa is passed away I keep asking myself why didn't I visit with him more why I lived there. But the times I did spend with grandpa were always so much fun. He gave us so much. A wonderful cabin in Alpine ponds to fish in and good meat to eat not to mention the best watermelons around. He taught us how to work hard and how to know if a watermelon was ripe. I remember him telling us if you eat the watermelon seeds one would grow in your stomach. I remember when he let me feed the calves with a bottle I thought I was so big and cool. It was so much fun helping him with what ever he needed. I will truly miss him but as dad said he is in a happier place and we will see him again.

pictures!!!!

I thought these were so cute I had to share with the family!!!! It looks like Emily is smiling at Aubrey's funny face.

enjoy!!!!

Remembering Grandpa

By now most of you know that Grandpa passed away Monday April, 31, 2008. Both Mom and I were there at the hospital when Grandpa left this world. Of course we were all very sad, but at the same time it was a very spiritual event. I have watched some of you enter this world and this was the first time I saw someone leave this world. Although the emotions are very different, both bring a deep spiritual feeling as you contemplate the great plan of salvation.

I love and appreciate grandpa most of all because he and grandma raised such a wonderful daughter. I want all of you to know I love your mother very much.

I have a request. Could all of you post a memory of Grandpa on our blog. It doesn't have to be very long.

Thanks
Dad
